MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA - A Montgomery man is behind bars after a knife attack early Thursday morning, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Police responded to the Circle K in the 3500 block of Lower Wetumpka Road around 12:30 a.m. on reports of a person being cut.
On scene, officers found the victim, Jerry Wright II, suffering from a deep laceration to the front of his neck. Wright explained that he had gone to a nearby Big Cat store and got into an altercation with the security guard when he asked him to buy a cigarello. He says the security guard became irate and swung a knife, cutting his neck.
The security guard, identified as Vernon McQueen, 51, was found at the Big Cat where he told police that Wright had previously robbed the store. He also claims Wright was the one who started the altercation that morning.
