ST LOUIS, MISSOURI - Du’wan Morgan, a 14-year-old Black boy from St. Louis County, Missouri, was shot and killed in his bedroom while playing video games on the evening of October 8, 2025. The bullet came through his window during a street dispute between two groups of teenagers in the Glasgow Village neighborhood.
Du’wan had just started high school and was known for his love of nature, fishing, and quiet demeanor. “He was minding his business, doing nothing,” a family member said. “Just sitting in his room. And now he’s gone.”
The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. when gunfire erupted outside his home. Witnesses reported seeing masked teens arguing and then firing at each other. Two bullets pierced Du’wan’s bedroom window. He died at the scene, while his mother and two brothers—also home at the time—were physically unharmed but emotionally devastated.
“He was a beautiful, nice kid,” said his aunt, Erica Davis. “He had a bright future ahead of him.” Du’wan had recently graduated eighth grade and was excited to begin ninth grade. His death has left his family shattered. “His mother hasn’t been eating. She hasn’t been sleeping. She’s completely broken,” Davis added.
Police have not made any arrests. Witnesses saw several teens fleeing the scene, hopping fences and disappearing between houses. Authorities believe Du’wan was not the intended target but was struck by stray gunfire. The racial identities of the suspects have not been confirmed publicly.
The St. Louis County Police Department continues to investigate, but updates have been scarce. “My family will never be the same,” Davis said. “We want justice for my nephew. He didn’t deserve to lose his life like this.”
Du’wan’s death has reignited concerns about youth violence in the area. “This is senseless,” Davis said. “No child should die like this.” The family is urging anyone with information to come forward, even anonymously.
