JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - A black Florida mom whose violent arrest was caught on camera has spoken out for the first time since the traumatic incident, with her family saying she now has PTSD.
Erika McGriff, 39, has blasted her arrest by Jacksonville Officer Randy Holton as 'uncalled for and unfair' as she made a short statement beside her relatives and Attorney Ben Crump, on Tuesday.
Crump also represented George Floyd's case in Minnesota, and the veteran lawyer drew comparisons between the shocking murder in 2020 and McGriff's case.
McGriff was arrested for parking her car illegally and driving on a suspended license while she was picking her nine-year-old daughter up from IDEA charter school in Jacksonville on the afternoon of October 7.
As shown on video, Holton restrained McGriff by the neck as she screamed 'I can't breathe', in an echo of Floyd's final words. He also appeared to throw punches at her head, push her to the ground, and yank her by the hair while she bit him.
