CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — The mother charged in the death of her daughter who died after being left in a hot car while she worked her shift at Amazon pleaded guilty Thursday.
Ashlee Stallings pleaded guilty in Mecklenburg County Superior Court to misdemeanor child abuse, a charge amended from negligent child abuse resulting in serious injury. She was sentenced to 270 days in prison.
A judge dismissed her charge of involuntary manslaughter.
In June 2024, Stallings reportedly told police that she went to work at a west Charlotte Amazon Distribution Center and left her child in the car with the air conditioning running. The two kept in contact by text. It was 98 degrees at Charlotte Douglas International that day.
