Darious, jailed for sexual assault and a frequent public masturbator, charged after attempting to rape another male inmate in Ridgeland South Carolina

RIDEGLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA - According to SLED, an inmate at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution is being charged for trying to rape another male inmate at the prison.
45-year-old Darious Lamont Moore was charged with ‘assault with intent to commit sexual conduct-1st degree’, and kidnapping.
The South Carolina Department of Corrections Office of the Inspector General requested the SLED investigation. The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
The arrest report reveals that on July 16th, 2025, the victim was performing normal assigned duties in an area of the prison when SLED says Moore entered the area, turned off the lights, and barricaded the door, blocking him from escaping.
SLED’s release says Moore attacked the victim, forced them to the floor, and ripped open the crotch of the victim’s clothing in his attempt to assault the victim sexually.
Other trustees at the jail heard the victim yelling for help and were able to forcibly enter the room, intervene and stop the assault.
The warrant also reveals Moore did unlawfully seize and confine him against his will, for the purpose of sexual gratification.
His jail records reveal Moore worked as a ‘wardkeeper’. It says he was assigned that job in February.
He’s in prison for grand larceny, assault and battery 1st degree, 2 counts of kidnapping, 2 counts of criminal sexual conduct in the 1st degree, 3 counts of burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (possession charge is from 2019).
Moore was sentenced for these crimes in February 2020.
He’s received many disciplinary sanctions for this recent attempted rape.
He lost commissary privileges, telephone privileges, tablet privileges, visitation privileges, and free rec time because of ‘exhibitionism and public masturbation’, according to his record.
He was also disciplined for sexual assault, hostage taking, striking an employee with/without a weapon, and assault and battery of an employee with intent to kill or injure.
Moore was also disciplined in the last 2 years for threatening to inflict harm on an employee, exhibitionism and public masturbation, along with possession of contraband and failing to obey orders.
