ELLICOTT, VIRGINIA - A Virginia man was charged for the fatal stabbing of his fiancée in her Ellicott City apartment.
Detectives said 34-year-old Rondale Dickerson of Mappsville, Virginia was detained after Howard County police found 44-year-old Shelaya Broadwater stabbed Thursday afternoon in the 3100 block of West Springs Drive.
As police started their investigation, they received a call about a suspicious person at a nearby store. Dickerson was found at the store without a shirt and had cuts on his arms and hands.
Investigators said the two were recently engaged, and a motive in the woman’s death is still unclear. Dickerson faces charges of first- and second-degree murder, assault, and home invasion.
The investigation is ongoing.
