Nguyen found guilty of murdering girlfriend after a Lorton Virginia shooting

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA — A Lorton man faces decades in prison after he was convicted of murdering his girlfriend in April 2024.
According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano, a jury found 48-year-old Huy Tien “Max” Nguyen guilty of second-degree murder for killing 38-year-old Alison “Kate” LaPorta.
Nguyen had been dating LaPorta for a year when he drove her to Mount Vernon Hospital on April 17, 2024, for gunshot injuries. She was later transferred to Fairfax Hospital, where she died.
