BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - A Black Lives Matter fraudster who scammed donors out of thousands to fund her own extravagant lifestyle has been sentenced to just 18 months in prison.

Monica Cannon-Grant was federally charged alongside her husband, Clark Grant, in 2022 for 27 counts of 18 fraud-related crimes connected with her nonprofit.

The 44-year-old scammer agreed to a plea bargain in exchange for a dismissal of nine counts related to mortgage fraud allegations.

She pleaded guilty on Monday to 18 counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud, and tax violations.

The fraudster received the bare minimum sentence of 18 months after swindling thousands of dollars in donations to pay for her lavish personal expenses.

Cannon-Grant's husband was killed in a motorcycle crash in Easton, Massachusetts in March 2023.

The couple operated the nonprofit Violence in Boston Inc. in 2017 with the stated purpose of 'improving the quality of life and outcomes of individuals from disenfranchised communities.'

The nonprofit raised over $1 million and received nearly $60,000 in pandemic relief funds to provide meals for underprivileged people, according to the Boston Globe.
