Sean 'Diddy the diddler' Combs begs judge for release on time served for prostitution conviction after the bulk of government's case against him fell apart

Post by Jaun Deere »

NEW YORK CITY - Sean 'Diddy' Combs' lawyers on Monday urged a New York federal judge to give the music mogul no more than 14 months in prison for his prostitution conviction - a sentence that would see him walk free almost immediately if granted.

The lawyers urged Judge Arun Subramanian to free him in a written submission, even though the judge has already rejected a proposed $50 million bail package.

They included nearly 70 letters of support from Combs' inner cirlce - among them his mother Janice, sister Keisha, children Justin, Chance, D'Lila and Jessie, record producer Dallas Austin, and Dana Tran, the mother of his youngest daughter.

The filing revealed Combs has finally sobered up in prison after 25 years of drugs and alcohol abuse.

He argued this 84-year-old mother Janice and seven of his children rely on him. In her own letter, Janice pleaded that she wants to spend 'the last few years of my life' with her son — while conceding he 'has made some terrible mistakes.'

The filing also claimed he maintained an 'incident free record' while staying at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

'In the past two years, Mr. Combs's career and reputation have been destroyed. He has served over a year in one of the most notorious jails in America - yet has made the most of that punishment,' his lawyers wrote to the court.

'Put simply, the jury has spoken. Its verdict represents an `affirmative indication of innocence,´' they added.
