Wallace arrested for murder after a New Orleans shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - The NOPD today (September 24, 2025) has arrested Wallace Gilmore (black male, DOB: 09-22-1976) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 22, 2025, in the 2700 block of Lasalle Street, in the Sixth District.
Just before noon on September 22, NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot wound victim on scene. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased. At that time, the incident was reclassified as a homicide.
Earlier today, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Willie Lemar Jr. and determined preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries.
