Vicksburg Mississippi murder suspect Tavon arrested after fleeing Brandon traffic stop - Was out on bond for a 2024 murder

BRANDON, MISSISSIPPI — A 19-year-old Vicksburg murder suspect was taken into custody Tuesday after fleeing a traffic stop in Rankin County, authorities said.
Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers stopped Tavon Cain on Interstate 20 in Brandon shortly before 11 a.m., according to officials. While being questioned during the stop, Cain ran into a wooded area, prompting a multi-agency search.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and the Pelahatchie Police Department assisted troopers in locating the suspect. Cain was later found and arrested near the intersection of U.S. Highway 49 and U.S. Highway 80 in Pearl, MHP said.
During the time of this incident, Cain was out on bond in Warren County for the 2024 murder of Korey Sims.
