BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, MISSOURI — A man bludgeoned and stabbed his sister to death Tuesday night in north St. Louis County, according to police.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged Craig Jones, 22, with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
St. Louis County police said officers with the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department responded at about 8:05 p.m. Tuesday to a stabbing in the 1200 block of Bliss Drive, located off of Ashbrook Drive near Bissell Hills Park.
Officers arrived to find a woman suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police said Jones attacked his sister unprovoked, striking her in the head several times with a seven-pound dumbbell, and then stabbing her several times with a steak knife.
Jones ran from the scene and was later taken into custody. Police said he admitted he murdered his sister and had been planning on killing someone for about a week.
