HINESVILLE, GEORGIA - A Fort Stewart sergeant has been arrested and charged with the deaths of the two soldiers found Sunday in a Hinesville townhome.
Sgt. Shaquille D. Craig is charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Specialist Marquez Brown, 23, of Macon, and Private Malika Darion Jackson, 21, of Foley, Alabama, who were found around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after police recieved an anonymous tip.
According to Hinesville Police Department Chief of Detectives Capt. Chris Reid, the arrest was made with the help of Fort Stewart's Criminal Investigation Division.
"Leads developed by the Ft. Stewart CID office and HPD enabled investigators to quickly identify and arrest the suspect," Reid said. "The motive of the crime seems to have been personal between Craig and Jackson, with Brown being in the wrong place at the wrong time."
