TOLEDO, OHIO - A shooting in Toledo that killed a 14-year-old boy Thursday night was an accident, according to the mayor.
Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz told 13 Action News that 14-year-old Davion Boone was playing video games with a friend Thursday night. They then began playing with a gun, and a 14-year-old boy accidentally shot Boone in the head, the mayor said.
Authorities charged the teen with reckless homicide and booked him into the Juvenile Justice Center, police said. 13 Action News does not name minors accused of crimes unless the courts certify them as adults.
The shooting happened in the 4500 block of Walker Avenue, near the intersection of Lewis Avenue and Eleanor Avenue, just before 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 25. Boone was taken to an area hospital for his injuries, where he later died.
