MUNCIE, INDIANA — Muncie police have arrested two women accused of threatening and beating up a woman who is five months pregnant during an attack earlier this month.
Elisa Clay, 23, and Corrine Raspberry, 18, have both been arrested on felony battery charges for the alleged attack that occurred on Sept. 13. Raspberry faces additional charges for another altercation that occurred earlier in the day.
Muncie police were called around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 to a reported attack in the 2900 block of E. Tanner Drive. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who was five months pregnant, who said she had been battered the night before.
The woman said she had been invited to Clay’s house to hang out, but was greeted with both Clay and Raspberry “punching and kicking her in the back and the stomach.” The victim’s sister also reportedly was injured after her hair was pulled during the fight.
The victim was taken to the hospital for a checkup as police continued investigating.
Later that evening, Muncie police were called to a food mart in the 1100 block of S. Madison Avenue for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with two women who said they had been pepper-sprayed by another woman.
Police reviewed video surveillance footage of the incident and identified Raspberry as the woman seen pepper-spraying people while unprovoked. Court documents state that Clay was also seen in the video as an uninvolved bystander.
