FAYETTE COUNTY, IOWA — A man is behind bars in Fayette County after a child gave their bus driver a note saying, "Call 911" on Wednesday. Police say the man was holding the child's mom against her will and had been assaulting her.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said the woman gave the note to her kid to relay the message for help. The child, an elementary aged student, then gave the note to the bus driver for the Sumner-Fredericksburg School.

Glenroy Stefand Miller, 29, originally from the Bahamas, is facing multiple charges including domestic abuse assault, willful injury, kidnapping, and obstruction of an emergency communication device.

A criminal complaint said when officers arrived at the home, deputies could see visible bruising on the woman's face, and they learned she had been abused throughout the night. Court documents say the victim was kicked hard enough to break two ribs and puncture a lung.
