Fredrick charged with attempted murder and felon with a gun after a Columbus County North Carolina shooting

WHITEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA — A man is behind bars after a shooting in Columbus County left one person injured.
On Saturday, deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded after a gunshot victim arrived at Columbus Regional Medical Center in a personal vehicle. Investigators determined the shooting happened on Luben Lane, off Campground Road.
The Sheriff’s Office says detectives gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses, leading them to identify a suspect and secure arrest warrants.
As a result, investigators arrested Fredrick Lavone Canady. He is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Canady was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
