SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS — Montez Edward Bolden, 46, has been arrested for attempted first degree murder and multiple charges of aggravated battery.
On September 24th around 3 a.m., officers responded to N. Jefferson Street and E. Jefferson in reference to a physical disturbance.
As officers were headed to the scene, dispatch advised bystanders overserved a man wearing a grey hoodie and black pants stomping the head of a man who was laying in the middle of the roadway.
When officers arrived at the scene, a male subject matching the description given by dispatch was sitting on the curb next to the injured male in the roadway. The man sitting was identified as Bolden.
Bolden made a spontaneous utterance to the officers stating, "I want to sit here and watch him die. He also stated, He's dead over there, I just killed him."
