Shooting suspect arrested after police pursuit in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs, Colorado - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police arrested a shooting suspect after a brief pursuit early Saturday morning. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers received a report at 1:06 a.m. of a shooting in the 2400 block of North Union Boulevard. When officers arrived on the scene, they say they found a female with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. Police got a description of the shooter and identified the associated vehicle, which was last reported driving southbound from the business. Officers found the vehicle and the suspect at 1:21 a.m. When officers attempted a traffic stop, they say the shooting suspect drove away. A force stop method was authorized, and officers conducted a PIT maneuver near East Pikes Peak Avenue and South Roosevelt Street, stopping the vehicle. Steven Vigil, 37, was taken into custody without incident. He is being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a $50,000 bond, according to online jail records. The victim was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. CSPD’s Assault Unit is leading the investigation. Copyright 2025 KKTV. All rights reserved.
