It happened around 1:30 a.m. early Saturday morning. Officers were already in the area of 13th and Howard when they heard a gunshot. They later found a 28-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital, and his injuries are not life-threatening. Officers were talking with several people in the area downtown and received a description of the suspect. Shortly after officers located a 31-year-old man near South 13th and Farnam Streets who was detained as a person of interest. Police say a discarded firearm was located near the area of the incident. According to police, Khyre Holbert was booked into Douglas County Corrections for first-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
