HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI - A former coach at a private school in Clinton has been convicted of sex crimes involving a 14-year-old student athlete.
Willie Alexander Jr., 50, was sentenced in Hinds County Circuit Court to serve 30 years in prison.
Court officials said in a plea agreement, Alexander pled guilty to sexual battery and exploitation. He was initially indicted on 14 charges.
Alexander, who was arrested in 2022, worked part-time as an assistant coach at Clinton Christian Academy.
The victim's mother reported that he had been abusing her son. The teenager told Clinton police that the abuse had been going on for several months at Alexander's home. The student said he also traveled with Alexander to Dallas and New Orleans.
