Fresno Police Arrest Suspect for Murder in Stabbing Death of Cecil Deloney on Orchard Avenue in Freso California

FRESNO, CALIFORNIA - Fresno Police Department officials report that on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 3:55 p.m., Southwest Policing District officers responded to the intersection of Orchard Avenue and Grant Avenue regarding a male down in the roadway. On arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Cecil Deloney, who was unresponsive. Deloney was lying in the roadway with an apparent stab wound to his upper body. Deloney was transported to CRMC for treatment, where he was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
The investigation by homicide detectives revealed that Victim Deloney was chased on foot by several suspects and then assaulted in the roadway. During the attack, Victim Deloney sustained a fatal stab wound inflicted by one of the assailants.
Homicide detectives identified 36-year-old Chong Lee, as the suspect responsible for Deloney’s murder.
On August 22, 2025, Lee was arrested by the Street Violence Bureau Tactical Team and booked into Fresno County Jail. Lee was formally charged with murder on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
