Devean sexually assaulted and strangled woman on University Of Southern Indiana campus

HENDERSON, KENTUCKY – A man is in the Vanderburgh County Jail after being accused of raping a woman on the campus of University of Southern Indiana.
According to an affidavit, authorities with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office were called to Ruston Hall for what was described as a “sensitive incident”.
The victim said she was sexually assaulted by Devean White, 20. The victim claimed on Sunday, her, White and a few other friends met on campus before she and White went back to her apartment.
She further claimed she and White began to watch tv before he began to physically touch her before sexually assaulting her and kissing her repeatedly while also holding her neck.
The affidavit says she tried to tell White no multiple times. Officials state White admitted to the acts while talking to authorities but believed it was consensual.
The victim also reported to authorities White resides in Ruston Hall. White was booked on rape and strangulation charges.
The university issued a statement to Eyewitness News saying they are aware of an alleged sexual assault involving its campus community.
