NEWPORT, NEW HAMPSHIRE - Two New Hampshire men facing charges for bank fraud were re-arrested after police linked them to a burglary case, which allegedly included an exchange of gunfire. An arrest warrant was also issued for a third man.
Dominic Johnson, 20, and Yanike Linganga, 20, were arrested Aug. 28 in connection to an investigation of organized check fraud at a number of banks, according to the Newport Police Department.
At the time of the arrest, the alleged fraud totaled more than $6,000.
Monday, police re-arrested both men in relation to a separate incident on Aug. 10 in Goshen, where guns were stolen from a residence.
According to the Goshen Police Department, a homeowner noticed an AK-47 rifle and a .45 caliber pistol were missing from his residence. In the early morning hours of Aug. 11, the same homeowner says he found three people in his driveway, wearing masks and rummaging through his vehicle.
The suspects ran away, allegedly firing a gun at the homeowner as they went. The homeowner says he returned fire. No one was injured.
Newport police say while reviewing evidence in the bank fraud case, they came across new, digital forensic evidence which links Johnson and Linganga to the burglary in Goshen, along with a third suspect, 19-year-old Masyn Rawnsley.
Police re-arrested Johnson and Linganga on multiple weapons charges, including a count of attempted assault with a deadly weapon for Johnson.
Both men are being held on preventive detention without bail pending a Tuesday arraignment.
The Newport Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Rawnsley, whose current location is unknown. The warrant lists multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit felonious use of a firearm.
