MARTINSVILLE, Va. - A homicide investigation by Martinsville PD led to the arrest of nine people from Danville and two people from Henry County.
Martinsville Police officers responded to large disturbance in the 500 block of Forest St. Tuesday, August 12.
Officers discovered a 39-year-old woman, identified as Crystal Galloway Jordan of Martinsville, with gunshot wounds. Jordan was transported to a hospital where she died of her injuries, according to Martinsville PD.
Police say the investigation revealed a mob had conspired to confront and fight a group of residents in Martinsville; the mob traveled to Forest St. and began assaulting local residents, said police.
As the altercation broke out, guns were fired, resulting in Jordan’s death, according to Martinsville PD.
Martinsville PD arrested 11 people in connection with the crime and charged them with malicious wounding in a mob, said Martinsville PD.
