CARMICHAEL, CALIFORINIA — Two of three men killed during an apparent attempted robbery Sunday in Carmichael have been identified.

Zavion Larue Dorsey, 22, and Wayne Douglas Doerr, 24, were found shot to death around 7 a.m. inside the Lance Apartments complex on El Camino Avenue, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

A third man in his 20s was also shot and killed. He had not been identified as of late Tuesday morning.

A fourth man and apartment resident, 18-year-old Jaylen Davis, was detained at the scene, per the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

What do deputies say happened?
One man was allegedly being robbed by two men, then one of the two armed robbers shot and killed him, deputies said. Davis then allegedly fired a gun, killing both of the armed robbers, according to the sheriff’s office.

ABC10 has reached out to deputies to determine which of the parties Dorsey and Doerr were and will update this article if and when that information is provided.

A witness independently corroborated the shooting’s events, and detectives said what happened did not constitute filing a murder charge against Davis after consulting with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Each of those killed were found with firearms next to them; all four men were allegedly armed illegally with handguns due to prior felony convictions, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies arrested Davis on suspicion of illegal firearm possession. He reportedly wore an ankle monitor and was on probation.

He faces a felony firearm possession charge and probation violation rendering him ineligible for bail, Sacramento County Main Jail records show. He is expected to appear Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.
