MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND - A Silver Spring, Maryland, man has been arrested in connection with a 2022 homicide at the Summit Hills apartment complex, according to detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department(MCPD).
Jason Duane Moore, 47, was arrested on Tuesday for the death of Nathaniel Potts, who was 29 at the time.
Potts was shot on December 2, 2022, at approximately 3:05 a.m. When MCPD officers arrived at the scene on the 8500 block of 16th Street, they found Potts suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly after.
Police in 2023 said Potts was killed on his birthday.
Three years later, detectives identified Moore as a suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained on Sept. 1, 2025, and he was arrested the following day on first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.
