Man arrested in Newberry South Carolina after murdering Dexter and kidnapping woman and a child

NEWBERRY COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA — A Chapin man has been arrested in connection with a homicide and kidnapping that happened in Newberry last week, authorities said.
Newberry Police Chief Kevin Goodman said 53-year-old David R. Clark was taken into custody and booked into the Newberry County Detention Center.
Authorities have charged Clark with murder, two counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes, and unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm.
On Friday morning, officers went to a call about a shooting and kidnapping at the College Park Apartments.
After forcing entry into the home, police found a man dead from a gunshot wound, officials said.
