QUEENS, NEW YORK - A couple has been found dead after a suspicious fire ripped through their home.
An unidentified man, 77, was found tied to a pole in the basement of his home on Monday while his wife, 78, was also discovered dead elsewhere in the house, according to ABC 7.
A manhunt has been launched for the male suspect, who is believed to have entered the $790,000 home on 87-86 254th Street in Bellerose, Queens, on Monday afternoon and set it on fire.
The couple's son allegedly works for the New York City fire department as a paramedic, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, according to the New York Post.
Surveillance footage, released by the NYPD, showed a man carrying what appeared to be a duffle bag close to the house around 3:30pm.
The man allegedly entered the home around 10:15am after the male homeowner opened the door, sources told The Post.
He was then seen leaving hours later, roughly 14 minutes after the fire alarms went off.
The suspect had previously attempted to get inside another home, but was turned away, sources said.
