MILWAUKEE, MINNESOTA - A police officer has been fired after admitting to having sex with a drunk woman who had just crashed her car.
David McVeigh, 35, of Estacada, Oregon, entered a no-contest plea to first-degree misconduct after investigators confirmed he forced sexual contact with a woman he was supposed to be helping in 2019, court records reveal.
Though the plea is treated as a guilty verdict, McVeigh struck a deal that allows him to keep his record clean if he finishes 150 hours of volunteer work by 2026.
On November 24, 2019, McVeigh was dispatched to help a woman who had drunkenly driven her car off the road.
He arranged a tow, then drove her back to her apartment - where he asked her for oral sex, according to Judge Todd Van Rysselberghe's case summary.
The woman later told police she agreed, thinking she might avoid a ticket by complying.
The incident was not reported until 2021, when the woman was arrested in a domestic violence case and confided that she had been coerced two years earlier by a Milwaukie officer named 'David'.
Detectives initially struggled to find her for an interview, leaving the case dormant.
