Vasquez let alligators kill son that she had previously abused in 2014 and her newborn tested positive for cocaine months ago

NEW ORLEANS - A mother who allegedly let alligators eat her 12-year-old son is now said to given her newborn baby cocaine.
Hilda Vasquez was arrested on charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and negligent homicide after her autistic son Bryan, 12, was found dead in a lagoon in New Orleans East on August 26.
Prosecutors claimed in court this week that Vasquez was a danger to society and should be refused bail following the multiple instances of alleged child abuse.
They cited an investigation by the Department of Children and Family Services that found Vasquez and her newborn tested positive for cocaine at a hospital in July, according to NOLA.
DCFS also had two previous cases on the 34-year-old, including 2014 charges of cruelty to juveniles after Bryan, then an infant, sustained a fractured skull and broken legs, according to the outlet.
The incident resulted in permanent disabilities to Bryan, who went missing this year on August 14 at 5.20am.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s office found he was attacked by an alligator after wandering unsupervised out of his home.
