Nevada State Senator Edgar Flores arrested for DUI after falling asleep at red light

NEVADA - A Democrat Senator is facing a DUI charge after allegedly telling police he had drunk a 24-ounce beer before falling asleep at the wheel.
Nevada lawmaker State Sen. Edgar Flores, 39, was arrested Friday morning at around 4am after he was discovered by cops sleeping at a red traffic light.
Police arrested Flores on suspicion of a DUI at the intersection of Lamb and Lake Mead boulevards in Las Vegas. They reported his vehicle was running and the keys were in the ignition.
The politician told police he drank a 24-ounce beer - equal to one and a half pints -earlier that night, according to documents obtained by 8 News Now.
The police documents said officers noted the senator 'displayed droopy eyes, slow speech, delayed responses and confusion.'
They also detected a 'slight odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.' Flores allegedly told police he consumed one Michelob beer around midnight at PT's Pub, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Flores claimed he was just exhausted 'after a long day of work, community events, evening exercise, and a late dinner.'
