LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — A Las Vegas man charged in the death of his stepfather was sentenced to four to 10 years in prison, as part of a plea agreement on Thursday.
Alex Renteria, 23, was charged with manslaughter for the death of Christopher Brian Harris.
On October 22, 2024, Renteria accused Harris of throwing away his toiletries, which led to him pulling out a gun.
“I told him to leave me alone, and I was scared. I picked up a firearm to make him back away. I never wanted to shoot him,” Renteria said during his statement in front of the courtroom. The room was packed with family and friends in support of both Renteria and Harris.
