OCONEE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged two people in the investigation of a 4-year-old boy’s death on Friday.
Oconee County Emergency Services were dispatched to a home on Forest Acres Circle near Walhalla around 6:20 a.m. for a cardiac arrest patient. The Oconee County Coroner’s Office was asked to respond a short time later, officials said.
The coroner said a 4-year-old boy, identified as Isaiah Joseph Dionne, was found unresponsive by his parents. Arrest warrants said he appeared underweight and malnourished. His death was classified as a homicide as it appeared suspicious in nature, according to the coroner.
Officials said that 30-year-old Joshua Emanuel Lamar Latimer, a former Highway Patrol Trooper, who held the rank of Lance Corporal and was stationed in Troop 3 was charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child and homicide by child abuse. Destiny Shay Dionne has been charged with the same.
