CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA — A man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting that happened earlier this month in Chesapeake, police said.
The shooting happened early on the morning of September 11 in the 2900 block of S. Military Highway. When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Yhuri Vashon Brinkley of Norfolk suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, police said 25-year-old Desmond Elliott Jr. is charged with first-degree murder, robbery leading to death, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Elliott is currently being held without bond.
