MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE - A Memphis woman is accused of kidnapping a father and his two children, then attacking him after they all escaped.
Memphis police say 40-year-old Latricia Allen is charged with assault and three counts of felony kidnapping.
On Sunday, Allen allegedly offered a father and his two children, ages two and five, a ride after she saw them walking on Overton Crossing Street.
The man reportedly offered her $20 in exchange for the lift.
According to arrest records, Allen proceeded to drive when she turned to the man and said, “I always wanted kids, and I have a better place to take you.”
Police say Allen refused to stop the car, so the victim forcibly took control of the steering wheel and pushed on the brakes until it came to a halt.
The affidavit says the man and two children fled from the car, but Allen followed. Police say she then “began scratching, and then bit the victim.”
According to police, she accidentally dropped her driver’s license before getting back into her car and speeding off.
