ATLANTA, GEORGIA — A 20-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a violent attack inside the Fulton County Jail, according to her family.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office said inmate Shania White, 27, has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and tampering with evidence in connection to the assault last week.
On Wednesday night, the family said Tyriana Ledbetter is on life support.
Her mother, Gloria Buckner, told 11Alive her daughter is mentally disabled and does not have the mental capacity expected of a 20-year-old.
She said she last spoke with her daughter on Sept. 21. Jail records list the date of the attack the following day on Sept. 22.
Buckner said she was not informed of the attack until days later.
