Washington, District of Columbia - WASHINGTON (7News) - Only one arrest has been made after a teenage boy and a man were gunned down in separate shootings within six hours in Washington, D.C., over the weekend, and police are still looking for one more suspect. The first fatal shooting happened on Friday, around 7:20 p.m., near the Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station in Northeast D.C. MPD officials told 7News that officers responded to the area near the 600-900 blocks of Rhode Island Avenue after reports of a shooting. They found Jermaine Durbin, 17, of Northeast, "unconscious, not breathing," with an apparent gunshot wound. SEE RELATED | Man shot, killed near Rhode Island Ave. Metro Station in DC; shooter sought Durbin ultimately died from his injuries, and authorities closed off the area from 10th Street to 5th Street, Northeast, in both directions around 7:40 p.m. Police said they were looking for a man who wore a ski mask and a black sweatshirt while being armed with a handgun. Just under six hours later, MPD's 3rd District officers were called to the 1400 block of Clifton Street, Northwest, around 12:34 p.m. for reports of gunfire. When they arrived at the scene, they found Jerome Myles, 26, of Northeast, with a gunshot wound. Police said Myles was also found unconscious and not breathing. Despite lifesaving efforts from D.C. Fire and EMS crew members, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. When homicide detectives showed up and executed emergency search warrants, Antone Whitaker, 35, of Northeast, was taken into custody. He faces a first-degree murder while armed charge in the shooting death of Myles. The police department initially reported that a firearm was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
