ACWORTH, GEORGIA - A man falsely accused of attempting to kidnap a young girl inside a Walmart is now seeking damages from the City of Acworth.

Mahendra Patel was arrested in March after a woman named Caroline Miller filed a police report alleging he tried to take her 2-year-old child while she was shopping at a Walmart on Cobb Parkway.

Patel was incarcerated in the Cobb County Detention Center for 46 days before he was released on bond.

In a hearing on Aug. 6, Cobb County prosecutors dismissed the case. They dropped all charges against Patel following mediation, during which both parties expressed a desire to "put the incident behind them."

Now, Patel is seeking $25 million in damages from the City of Acworth.
