NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT - Three people have been arrested after the discovery of a 12-year-old girl’s remains outside of an abandoned home in New Britain.

“As a mother, this makes me sick to my stomach to be standing here today,” said Erin Stewart, Mayor of New Britain.

City officials announced the girls mother, 29-year-old Karla Garcia, and the mother’s sister, 28-year-old Jackelyn Garcia, have been arrested.

An arrest warrant for murder and tampering with evidence was also out for Karla’s boyfriend, 30-year-old Jonatan Nanita. New Britain police said that he was taken into custody Monday evening.
