COLUMBUS COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a murder that happened in February.
According to the press release, Ervin Hakeem Johnson was reported missing on February 13th, and his body was later found in Tabor City on February 19th.
Following a lengthy and collaborative investigation between the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and the SBI’s Coastal District Office, on September 2nd, Tallis Jeremiah Vereen, 22, was charged with murder in connection with Johnson’s death.
Vereen has been in custody since February 16th, after the sheriff’s office arrested him on unrelated charges.
Vereen was served with a no-bond warrant and remains in custody.
