MIDDLETOWN, NEW YORK – A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a barber shop in downtown Middletown earlier this week that left a 17-year-old injured, sources have confirmed to Mid-Hudson News.
The suspect, a Middletown resident, has been charged with attempted murder, sources said. He was arraigned by a judge after last night’s arrest, and bail was set for him.
The victim was shot while working a shift at the 6 West Barbershop on West Main Street on Wednesday. The alleged suspect walked into the shop wearing a camouflage baclava-style mask. He fired several rounds at the teen from a black handgun, striking him in the back three times. Police believe the victim was the intended target of the shooting, as there were others in the shop and no one else was shot at or injured.
While police did not release the victim’s name because of his age, the barbershop owner, Freddy Williams, identified him as Nasir Andrades.
The suspect fled on foot and got on a black electric scooter that had been parked on South Street. He fled south on South Street and onto Washington Street, where the investigation led to the upper area of Washington, near Prospect Avenue. After the shooting, the City of Middletown Police Department began an exhaustive search for the suspect.
