WACO, Texas - Two men charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery in sealed indictments Thursday were taken into custody Friday morning.
McLennan County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Matthew Porifor Beltran, 22, and Michael Kidwell, 27, in the July 28 robbery and shooting death of a clerk at an Elm Mott truck stop and the robbery of a Hewitt truck stop earlier that day.
Courthouse deputies took Matthew Beltran into custody Friday morning while he was attending his father’s pretrial hearing on a tampering with physical evidence charge in Waco’s 19th State District Court.
Courthouse officials say Beltran surrendered to deputies without incident and was taken to the McLennan County Jail.
Deputies took Kidwell, who also was named Thursday in a sealed indictment, into custody at his place of employment, officials said.
