CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS — A 35-year-old Urbana man is dead and two men are in custody following an overnight shooting in Champaign, police said Sunday.
Champaign County Coroner Laurie Brauer on Monday identified the victim as R.L. Glenn Selvin.
He was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital at 3:33 a.m. Sunday.
Champaign police were called to the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue at 3:04 a.m. Sunday after reports of a shooting with injuries. Once on scene, officers found a 35-year-old Urbana man unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds. The man died a short time later, authorities said.
According to police, the initial investigation revealed that the man was in a parking lot when he was approached by two suspects who fired multiple shots, then fled.
“The vehicle used to flee was located by officers in the 2000 block of Moreland Boulevard a short time later,” police said.
During the course of the investigation, Tyson Moore, 32, of Champaign and Deandre Newbill, 37, of Urbana, were located and arrested and will face charges of first-degree murder, police said.
A pair of firearms were located during the investigation, police added.
