LUFKIN, TEXAS - In the course of investigating a murder, Texas Rangers found a man wanted for allegedly hiding Easter eggs with marijuana in them back in April.
Avante Jamar Nicholson, of Lufkin, was arrested on Friday after Lufkin police were called to a home where the Texas Rangers were investigating a murder. The rangers questioned Nicholson as a witness, but police have said he is not a suspect in the murder.
He has, however, been wanted since April 20, when Lufkin police say they connected him with marijuana-filled plastic eggs placed in three Lufkin city parks and a motel.
Nicholson has been charged with three counts of delivery of marijuana in a drug free zone and one county of delivery of marijuana. The items totaled more than a quarter of an ounce of marijuana, police said.
Nicholson has been booked into the Angelina County Jail, with bond not yet set.
Texas Rangers continue to search for a fourth suspect in connection with the murder of JaMichael Phillips.
