SIMMESPORT, LOUISIANA - Simmesport Police Chief Jamshad Fayyaz’s employment was terminated, according to an official memo signed by the town’s fiscal administrator.
According to the correspondence, Joel Robideaux, the Simmesport fiscal administrator, terminated the police chief position by enforcing the legal power to “reorganize the Police Department of the Town of Simmesport, as is necessary to return the political subdivision to financial stability.”
Fayyaz’s firing comes amid an ongoing Simmesport Police investigation into the town’s clerk, Gwen Barr, a public official accused and arrested for criminal charges of forgery. Town leadership denies any wrongdoing by Barr.
