HOUSTON, TEXAS - Authorities say the man accused of stabbing and killing a man in the Kashmere Gardens area earlier this month is now charged with murder.

The Houston Police Department said 50-year-old James Brown was arrested on Wednesday.
Brown is charged with killing 36-year-old Joshua Hampton on Aug. 12.
HPD officers stated that at approximately 9 a.m., they found Hampton lying in the road on Pickfair Street, near Cavalcade and Lockwood.
According to police, neighbors did not report hearing or seeing any disturbance before finding him injured. First responders said Hampton died from multiple stab wounds.
"He was a good person around here. He never bothered nobody," Shenika Jackson, a friend of the victim, told ABC13 the day after the incident.
Brown was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for murder, HPD said.
