RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI -A woman accused of leading Rankin County sheriff's deputies on a pursuit was arrested after crashing her SUV.
The incident began at about 1 p.m. when deputies responded to a domestic dispute at a home in Glendale Place near the reservoir. Before they arrived at the home, deputies were told that the suspect, Latoya Fortune, had left in a maroon Nissan Rogue. Deputies spotted the vehicle, but Fortune kept going south on Lakeland Drive toward Flowood.
After several miles, deputies stopped Fortune near Dogwood Festival, but when they tried to pull her from the vehicle, she took off again, according to Investigator Tyler Burnell.
Burnell said the Flowood Police Department used a tactical driving maneuver on Lakeland Drive, near Howard Wilson Lane, which resulted in Fortune's Nissan rolling over and stopping on the right median.
