MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE - A Shelby County Government Pre-Trial Services Supervisor was indicted in a jail contraband investigation, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Nakesha Humphrey, 30, was indicted for smuggling illegal items into the Shelby County Jail at 201 Poplar, according to SCSO.
An investigation revealed that an inmate was working with Humphrey, who was responsible for obtaining and delivering contraband into the Jail.
Detectives found she used her position inside the jail to smuggle in contraband.
SCSO notified the Mayor’s Office and revoked all of Humphrey’s access to the jail.
Detectives with a warrant searched her home and discovered a small amount of marijuana and additional evidence supporting Humphrey’s role in the smuggling operation, according to SCSO.
Humphrey was indicted and arrested on Friday, Oct 3.
