ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI - St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday after a federal court hearing.
He will be in jail pending his trial, which has not yet been scheduled. Montgomery’s lawyer, Justin Gelfand, said after the hearing that he plans to file an appeal as soon as possible.
Tuesday morning’s hearing came days after Montgomery, 28, faced additional felony charges in federal court. In that hearing on Thursday, a St. Louis judge ordered him under house arrest.
